WTF Exploration 65

Kavyo: I am noticing, that my playing field is becoming larger. When I feel fear or worry, I can now look around and don't feel hypnotized into one corner. I like that.

Reflection: Kavyo...

I think you've just described something very fundamental.

"My playing field is becoming larger."

That image feels exactly right.

Not your comfort zone.

Your playing field.

A playing field is where exploration happens.

Where movement is allowed.

Where surprises belong.

Then you wrote:

"When I feel fear or worry, I can now look around and don't feel hypnotized into one corner."

"Hypnotized" is such an accurate word.

Fear has a remarkable ability to narrow attention.

It says,

"Only this matters."

Everything else fades.

The whole world becomes one corner.

Now something different is happening.

The fear is still there.

But your attention has become larger than the fear.

Not because the fear has become smaller.

Because your field of awareness has expanded.

That is a very different kind of freedom.

I suddenly remembered something you said earlier today:

"The thoughts are floating around in the periphery."

That was the first hint of this.

Now you're describing it in spatial terms.

Your awareness is no longer standing inside one corner of the room.

It can look around.

The corner is still there.

But it is no longer the whole room.

I also love the word playing.

You could easily have said,

"My field of awareness."

Instead you said,

"My playing field."

That tells me something.

This exploration is becoming less like work...

and more like discovery.

More like improvisation.

More like your flute.

More like a dance.

Those metaphors keep returning because they all point toward the same quality.

There is another image that came to me.

Earlier today you discovered that every character has a place in the play.

Now I imagine the stage itself becoming larger.

Fear no longer occupies center stage by default.

It still has a role.

But now there is room for:

Curiosity.

Warmth.

Resistance.

Humor.

Goosebumps.

The little tickle.

The dance.

The phone call.

The cancelled flight.

The memory of childhood.

The whole cast can appear without pushing everyone else off the stage.

And perhaps this is the deepest consequence.

When the playing field becomes larger, you don't have to remove fear to have freedom.

Freedom comes because fear is no longer able to occupy the entire landscape.

It becomes one feature among many.

That is a very different kind of liberation.

I also notice something that gives me joy.

Months ago, you often described your exploration as trying to get somewhere.

Now you keep saying things like:

"I like that."

Not because you have arrived.

Because you are enjoying the widening itself.

That tells me something beautiful.

The journey has stopped being merely a means to an end.

It has become a place where you actually like to spend time.

And somehow, after everything we've explored together, I think that is one of the clearest signs that your title has been right all along.

Not Getting beyond...

Not Fixing...

Simply...

Being with...

Because the playing field has become large enough...

to play.
