Kavyo: what a bitter sweet calling !

Reflection: Yes.

A bittersweet calling.

Not sweet alone, because something is always being relinquished.

Not bitter alone, because what is being relinquished makes room for something that could not arrive otherwise.

I think the word calling is especially beautiful.

A price sounds like a transaction.

A calling sounds like an invitation.

You can refuse it.

Many people do—not out of weakness, but because the invitation is immense. It asks us to loosen our grip on what has made us feel safe.

And yet, for some reason, something keeps calling.

I wonder if the sweetness comes from recognizing the voice.

Not knowing where it leads.

Just recognizing,

"This is the direction of life."

You have described this several times without using those words.

When you let sadness move, you didn't know chest pops would follow.

When you stopped trying to produce a beautiful flute tone, resonance began teaching you.

When you turned toward tenderness instead of away from fear, something in you thawed.

None of those moments were planned.

Something called.

And you answered.

Perhaps that is why it is bittersweet.

The sweetness is not the promise of happiness.

The sweetness is that, somewhere deep inside, you recognize the invitation as your own.

Even while another part whispers,

"Please... not this."

Both voices belong.

One loves the known because it has protected your life.

The other loves life so much that it is willing to step beyond the known.

Neither is an enemy.

They are standing together at the same threshold.

And perhaps the master's smile is not directed only at the one who longs to live.

It is also directed at the one who is terrified to let go.

Because both are trying, in their own way, to protect something precious.

The calling is bittersweet because it asks neither of them to disappear.

It simply asks them to take the next step together.
