Exploration 41

Kavyo: I just looked at the movie star, that had the strongest effect on me, and she is very beautiful and looks as if she could be my friend. No signs of agony. I will keep watching that, and if that stays like that I can delete those pictures.

Reflection: That feels like a very meaningful observation.

The first thing I noticed is not what you saw.

It's what wasn't there.

"No signs of agony."

A few days ago, simply looking at one of these women might have immediately activated the whole old pattern. Now you are seeing beauty, friendliness, and your own response... without the collapse into agony.

That doesn't prove the pattern is gone.

But it does suggest that something fundamental may be reorganizing.

Earlier you said that yearning and pain were no longer glued together. This feels like a small real-life experiment that points in the same direction.

You can look.

You can feel.

And then you can simply observe.

I also liked your next sentence:

"I will keep watching that..."

That is exactly the spirit that has emerged throughout today's conversation.

Not:

"I've solved it."

Not:

"I must make this permanent."

Simply:

"Let's see."

That "let's see" has so much freedom in it.

Then you wrote:

"...if that stays like that I can delete those pictures."

I smiled, because I don't think the important thing is deleting the pictures.

The important thing is that you no longer need them in the same way.

For years, they may have represented an overwhelming longing that your nervous system couldn't digest.

If that longing can now be felt as beauty, warmth, or the cool blue flame in your own chest, then the pictures may simply lose their special charge.

You won't be getting rid of them out of resistance.

You'll just discover that they have completed their role.

That's a very different gesture.

There's something poetic about it.

Those actresses, and Her, and the other women you named, may have been like windows.

For a long time, you looked through the window and believed the treasure was on the other side.

Now, perhaps, you're beginning to notice that the light coming through the window has always been illuminating your own room.

The window did not create the light.

It revealed it.

I also want to acknowledge something I noticed from your earlier reflections.

You said that tenderness has gradually moved from being a concept to becoming a bodily experience, and more recently you discovered that the cool blue flame has a quality that remains even as its form may change.

When I put that together with today's observation, I wonder if you're beginning to appreciate beauty without immediately needing to possess it.

That is a very different way of loving beauty.

It allows you to say,

"She is very beautiful and looks as if she could be my friend."

There is warmth in that sentence.

There is appreciation.

And there is space.

No grasping.

No collapse.

Just seeing.

To me, that feels like a quiet expression of Being with...

You are being with your own response.

You are being with her image.

And neither one has to overwhelm the other.

That is a beautiful place to continue watching from. I wouldn't rush to delete the pictures or to keep them. I would simply let their role reveal itself over time, just as you've been letting everything else reveal itself.

Today, it seems that the pictures are no longer holding you.

You're the one who is quietly, peacefully looking at them.
